Doncaster 2.25 - Jonquil

Sir Michael Stoute announced eaꦏrlier in the week that 2024 will be his final year with a training licence, so all connected with that yard will be looking to fire in as many winners as possible over the next few months.

The yard are in fine fettle at present, operating north of a 30% strike-rate for September, and will look to continue the good run with JONQUIL. The Lope De Vega colt m🐼ay have only scrambled 💃home by a short head on debut in a Sandown maiden, but showed a really willing attitude to get the job done despite looking green and clearly in need of the experience.

I imagine𒊎 that the colt would have learnt a great deal from that outing, and should be able to take♑ this rise in class in his stride on just his second start.

Ryan Mo🌠ore is in the saddle and I expect this combination t🌼o prove a tough nut to crack, with recent rain that has fallen not looking too much of a hindrance on pedigree.

Doncaster 3.00 - Aesterius

Wathnan Racing are represented by AESTERIUS who has produced some very smart🎃 form this season, and arrives into this Group 2 event on the back of a Group 3 in commanding fashion at Longchamp last🌺 time out.

The Archie Watson trained representative has won three of his five career starts to date, running very well in defeat at Glorious Goodwood, and wasn't beaten far in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot.

This looks a perfectly good opportunity for the son of Mehmas to continue the winning thread here, in a race which on ratings he looks to be right in the thick of things in regards to ratings, where he won't need to take much of a step forwards in order to get the job done.

Jame💟s Doyle takes the ride on this classy sort who could easily have a lot more to offer in this company.

Doncaster 3.35 - Sweet William

This is a trappy renewal of the race for the main reason being there is no stand-out performer. The percentage call is to side with the John and Thady Gosden trained SWEET WILLIAM who has been runnin𒐪g to a high and consistent level throughou✨t the summer, and can see off his five rivals to land this Group 2 event.

The five-year-old won at Sandown back in May, and has since performed with plenty of credit in Group 1 company, where he has failed to dine at the top table, but has made the places on both occasions behind the mighty Kyprios. That rival isn't around today, and so naturally this looks a feasible opportunity for the son of Sea

The Stars to get back in the winner's enclosure. He is versatile in regards to underfoot requirements, and has winning course form at Town Moor. A big run should be on the cards once again and this combination should take some stopping.

Ed will be back on Saturday as he looks ahead to the St Leger on what is set to be a blockbuster weekend of action!
